Blood Drive, CA - 2000

Blood Drive, CA - 2000

Blood Drive T-shirt.

Oct 28, 2000, Hidden Valley, CA. The Blood Drive festival was put together to support the American Red Cross and the West Memphis Three Legal Defense Fund.

The lineup was diverse, including X, The Damned, Misfits, Supersuckers, Bleeders, Hellbound Hayride, Throwrag, Zen Guerrilla, Blazing Haley, Speedbuggy, Zeke, and more. There were also multiple car clubs there including: Baron's, Beatniks, Bad Influence, Choppers, Lucky Devil's, and more.

The Crowns played the fest mid-day and then headed to Anaheim to play the Doll Hut that night.

"I remember loading in behind the stage and talking to Eddie Spaghetti from the Supersuckers, and John Doe from X. We were just hanging out talking the road, music etc. I was trying to play it cool as its frigging JOHN DOE you know!? When all suddenly, a van pulls up and the Misfits get out, they're wearing sweatpants and cut off shirts, they start setting up a weight bench and putting weights together, the plastic sand filled weights you know? Anyway, they start lifting weights and grunting and yelling, right in front of us. The conversation kind of trailed off, John Doe was like "umm... soo.. yeah.. see you guys later" and we just went our separate ways. It was funny as hell!

The Misfits took forever to go on stage, after a long wait they showed up, but with Zoli Téglás from Ignite on vocals instead of Michale Graves. The crowd was not having it, it was pure chaos. The other thing I will always remember from this set is being on stage as X starts playing "Los Angeles" as the sun sets. Not only was it a beautiful moment, being on stage like that let you see the interplay between DJ Bonebrake and the band. Fucking icons. Bucket list gig for me." - Jason
