Practice Space, Providence RI - 1995

Practice Space, Providence RI - 1995

The Crowns occupied a practice space in the Fletcher building on the corner of Union and Weybosset streets in downtown Providence RI. The building itself was filled with artists and all sorts of other people, including an escort service next door to their practice space.

The band used this space for a couple years until they got ripped off too many times.

"The Fletcher building was totally wild. The concept of an unused building in the middle of downtown Providence that someone owned and let people do whatever they wanted, does not exist anymore. You want to practice music? You want to live here? You want to set up an escort service? You want to open up a hair salon in the building? No problem, just don't be a dick about it." - Jack

"I used to love sitting in the window of that space when we had a late-night rehearsal or after we loaded in. Providence was still a bit wild then and it was relaxing to be able to see across the city, or watch the fights that always occurred outside Sakis Pizza when the bars let out.  Eventually we had to move due to break ins. My friend Al and I had put up a big cage over the door, but it didn't work, and we ended up getting gear stolen. We found a safe, cheaper space in a mill in Pawtucket. The Fletcher building was fun while it lasted." - Jason
